for enjoyable and informative day trips, holidays, talks, walks and social activities whilst supporting National Trust properties in Yorkshire.
We are affiliated to the National Trust, but our membership is open to everyone.
The main objective of all the activities we arrange is to enable members to meet and spend time with people who have similar interests. The social side of our activities is perhaps the most rewarding.
All our activities are reported in a lively quarterly magazine, published on this website's Members' Pages and/or sent to members in March, June, September and December.
WE HAVE A LONG HISTORY IN YORK
For over fifty years the York Association of the National Trust (YANT) has been a welcome focus for people from in and around York, organising a wide range of year-round activities - talks, walks, holidays, day trips and social activities.
WHAT HAPPENS TO OUR SURPLUS FUNDS
We are a "not for profit" organisation, so any funds we have over at the end of the year we donate to National Trust properties, especially those in Yorkshire, such as Treasurer’s House, Goddards, Beningbrough Hall, Nunnington Hall, Fountains Abbey, Nostell Priory and East Riddlesden Hall.
We also contribute to many special appeals including those relating to specific areas of country or coastline. In recent years members of the York Association have been able to hand over cheques for around £2,000 a year to help fund NT projects.

Throughout the summer we run day trips by coach to houses, castles and gardens within easy reach, in an area which includes Yorkshire, Durham, Northumbria, the Lake District, Derbyshire and Lincolnshire.

Hanbury Hall, Worcestershire
Fundraising and Social
Our social activities, such as coffee mornings, musical events, mystery tours with lunch and a Summer Garden Party, are very popular.
You could also attend our informal drop-in light lunch every month at a local venue.
Any surplus funds we have at the end of the year are donated to our local National Trust properties.

Summer Garden Party, Goddards York
Every year we organise some six or seven holidays, one or two to continental Europe, the rest within Britain, using coach, train, air or boat travel. Past destinations have included the Scottish Highlands, Pembroke, London, Edinburgh, Paris and the Loire Valley, as well as a Rhine river cruise.
All holidays are accompanied by an experienced tour leader and include visits to National Trust and other houses, beautiful gardens, art galleries and places of special interest. Before dinner on the first night we hold a drinks reception where newcomers are introduced to regular travellers, from whom they receive a warm welcome. On all tours we are able to offer an unusually high proportion of single rooms.
All tours are operated in conjunction with Brightwater Holidays, a licensed and fully bonded tour operator of high repute.

Sorrento, Italy
(YANT holiday to Naples and the Amalfi Coast)
Throughout the year there are regular talks on subjects of interest to our members.
These usually take place on Saturday afternoons at a venue in York.
After each talk, members can meet the speaker and their fellow members.

We organise a full programme of regular guided walks, mid-week and at weekends – half-day circular walks ending with a pub lunch and longer point-to-point walks, with coach travel, which end with tea at a friendly hostelry or village hall.
The Walks Group also runs a very popular annual quiz every March at a York venue.
